Ojamo Manor

The main building of the Ojamo manor is located by Lake Lohja near the city centre. The manor is famous for having Finland‘s oldest iron mine on its grounds. The pitheads of the mine, close to the main building, can be seen during the guided tour. The grave of Dmitri Swertschkoff, the constructor of the main building, built in the Russian Empire style, is also found on the premises at the end of a maple lane. There is also a hired man‘s hut, a cow-shed built from the waste rocks of the mine, and the miners‘ hut on the grounds. The mansion is owned by the Old Lohja Foundation established by the Friends of the Lohja Native Place Studies Organisation.
